Wireless audio

Man, I wish I'd realized looong ago that I could do this. (Not sure why I didn't, sometimes I'm just slow I guess.) I just got an Apple Airport Express, installed it as an extension of my existing wireless network, and plugged in my great speakers* on my bed stand to it. Now I get excellent sound while playing music or video on my iPad, without any wire hanging like a telephone wire through my room. (It works via Apple "Airplay", which can also play iPad video on a TV connected to an Apple TV.)

I'd earlier bought a fancy Danish speaker with wireless sound. But it required a special adapter in the iPad, it often conflicted with my wireless network, and though much costlier it only sounded almost as good as my existing speakers:

* Harman Kardon Soundsticks. I have them both on my work desk and my bed stand. They sound like something costing at least five times as much, and they look great. (I have Soundsticks II, I'm not sure what's changed in gen 3.)

Cool! "Sounds"...GREAT! :-D LOVE everything wireless, myself! I'm not a cord fan at all! I bet it would be nice for a bedtime audio as well! No ear buds to fall asleep with, stuck in the ears, or get tangled up in! :-P

Of dear, we wouldn't be a good match then! I'm a cord man all the way myself. ;-)

I would be paranoid having a wireless station that close to my skull. Granted, having one on both sides of your head helps in that it cooks evenly, but still ...

SILLY YOU, Timo! :-)

Cords are messy.
But I have to admit that there are always problems, for me anyway, with wireless. Bluetooth is worse, I can hardly ever get that to work decently, but even ordinary wifi... always longer waits, sometimes it won't connect... blablablah.

A couple years ago I got tired of it with my main machine, and strung an ethernet cable all the way through my apartment, and since then no troubles with connections to that machine.

So far the audio is working well though, only a second or two's wait when you return to an app to complain about. When established in one app, it works in others too right away, which I hardly had expected.

Yes! Exactly! And...annoying!

I just miss the clarity that analog used to be! :-(

And...although it's not perfect (and I know that you don't drive) but...a blue tooth that enables me to pick up a call, that I am expecting, while I'm driving is such a big help! I can't imagine having to have a cord dangling from my ear on down to my cell phone; that would be weird...and...annoying! ;-)

That's good. Cool! :-D

I meant to stop, earlier, and write that I was at a call center, a few days ago, hoping to be able to have at least a head set, so as to be hands free, in order to write. I didn't think much about it, until I got there: they had fricken CORDED telephones and I was trying to figure out how I was going to function! lol! I haven't been around a corded phone for about 8 years! I, usually, just have my cell on speakerphone, especially when I need to be writing (and, of course, as mentioned, the hands free Bluetooth option, while driving...if it's too noisy to hear the speakerphone) so...being tied down w/a corded phone, while trying to write down info. (and having to cover my other ear because people were talking around me) became quite...annoying! I'm just GLAD that it was only a few hours' worth, for a couple of days! I HATE CORDED PHONES! :-( And...it's, certainly, NOT very ergonomic to be sitting there trying to hold the phone w/your shoulder, neither! :-/

(Oh, gawd, these crazy captchas! I seem to have the biggest challenge with recognizing an "r" and an "n"! :-/

Yes...men usually say that about "ladies." Were it a man making the same comments, it would just be "constructive criticism." :-)

I just happen to know what I prefer; something men don't much care to hear...of "ladies," although men have many of their own...usually blonde, long hair, etc. I just happen to prefer having efficient gadgets; don't hate a gurl for that! Geesh! :-)

I doth seem to remember reading thine own complaints re: captchas, as well, Sir Timolot, so...I am not the only one who "protesteth" about something! :-P
