Fast on screen keyboards?

Watching the video in the post below (iPad/Xoom dogfight), I got a shocker: this guy types almost as fast on a screen keyboard as I do on a good physical one! I didn't think that was possible, how the heck does he do it?
Obviously I can't feel the keys, and I have big hands, so they cover up many of the keys for me to see.
But I have to admit that when I try to use more fingers (like the middle three fingers on each hand), I can do it pretty well, and if I trained a bit with it, perhaps I could get up to good speed, and maybe even get over my frustration of not feeling the keyboard so I never have to bring an external one (I slightly doubt the last part though, I like touch-typing).

I am same and understand what you mean re: this regard. It would seem that a person would have to watch every tap just to be sure that the correct letter was "typed" and not the neighboring one. Ugh! That would seem to slow a person down, I would think; not my idea of..."progress." :-/

It's not meant to be progress, it's meant to be a compromise. But it seems that for some people it's hardly even a compromise. Did you see how fast he typed?

Sorry...I was just meaning "progress" of technology, in general. It just doesn't "feel" efficient to me but...I also don't have to use one, on a daily basis, right now. Perhaps, I could get used to it.

I did, yes! He probably does a lot of, um, iChatting! ;-) And...he's quite the "hyper" dude, as well, so...it seems that *everything* is at one speed for him: FAST!
