Suppose, by some miracle, that some kid in a garage somewhere at this moment possesses the marketing, invention, business and design skills of a Steve Jobs. What are the odds that that same person will be comfortable enough — or maybe uncomfortable enough — to swim upstream, against the currents of social, economic and technological norms, all in pursuit of an unshakable vision?
Zero. The odds are zero.
Yeah, I think that's the essence right there.
By the way, a factoid: Jobs was about the 105th richest man in the world. If he had not sold his Apple stock in 1987, he would have been the 5th richest man.
Hmm. So, do you think he cared? I don't think so. What would he have bought? 500 million black turtleneck sweaters?

There won't be another Steve Jobs, just as there won't be another Henry Ford. In large part because we don't need another Henry Ford.
Einstein wasn't another Newton, in large part because he had to patch up Newton in a fashion Newton couldn't have comprehended.
(Personally I apply the term genius to the guy who had the original idea or the guys who got it working)
The defining point of genius is that it is unexpected and different. I thought that that was the whole point of the "Think Different" ads.
Like it or not, "What Would Steve Jobs Do?" is not only doctrine but sacrosanct dogma. The next genius in the field will be the individual who overturns it. And he'll be fought tooth and nail by the fanbois.

Original is almost per definition against the stream, otherwise it'd have happened earlier.
